The Premier League is coming to an end. We have finally reached the last game. Over the last few weeks Liverpool has clinched the title. However, they only lifted the trophy for their last home game of the season. The battle of Champions League still exists with Manchester United and Leicester playing each other on the final day. The battle for survival is still on also. Between Bournemouth, Watford and Aston Villa are battling to stay up. Only one team from the three can survive the drop to the Championship next season.
The only two negatives about the last round of Premier League games is that you can only watch one (per screen) as they are all played at the same time. The other negative is that it is the end of another season. Thankfully, the wait for next season will not be as long as normal.
Arsenal vs Watford, Sunday 26th July, 10 a.m.
Watford travels to the Gunners with the hopes of saving their season. The benefit is that Arsenal has nothing to play for. The London side will likely rest most of their starters for the FA Cup final against Chelsea the following weekend. Watford needs to get a better result than Aston Villa to move out of the relegation zone.
Arsenal is (-110) to come away with the win against Watford. The odds for a draw on the game are (+300). While the Gunners do look stronger on paper, they will not have the same fight that Watford is going to have. Watford is (+275) to win here at Canplay.
West Ham vs Aston Villa, Sunday 26th July, 10 a.m.
This could have been a bottom of the table clash, but West Ham has had a recent lift in form. They beat Norwich and Watford recently pushing themselves out of the relegation zone. West Ham was safe from relegation on goal difference until their 1-1 draw with Manchester United meant they were officially staying in the Premier League.
Aston Villa has also had an uplift in form recently. As a result, they sit in 17th place ahead of Watford on the goal difference. Just one goal separates Aston Villa and the relegation zone currently. After a good 1-0 win against Arsenal in their last match they won’t be ready to give up on their hopes just yet.
West Ham is (+205) to win at home. While Aston Villa is (+130) to come away with a victory. A draw is (+260). Even though West Ham has a better squad they may be a bit more complacent now they are safe. Take Aston Villa to win here at Canplay.
Leicester City vs Manchester United, Sunday 26th July, 10 a.m.
The majority of neutrals will be focusing on this one. It is the game that will decide who will play in the Champions League next season. Since the restart, there has been a lot of focus on the race for the top four. Leicester have struggled since the restart dropping points in several games. Their form has dropped but there is still plenty of quality in the side.
Manchester United have been one of the best teams in the league since the restart. Recently they have looked a bit lethargic. Resulting in them drawing with West Ham and Southampton as well as a 3-1 defeat to Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-finals. However, it is now do or die for Ole’s men, it will be the defining factor on whether or not this has been a good season.
The eyes for this game will be on Jamie Vardy for Leicester and Bruno Fernandes for Manchester United. Leicester are (+220) to win while a draw is priced at (+250). Manchester United are the favorites for this one at (+125). I think Manchester United have the better squad for this game and should be hungry to play Champions League football next year. Back them here at Canplay.
