Now, let’s take a look at this week’s games.
Edmonton Oilers @ Nashville Predators
2nd March 2020 @ 8:08PM
The Nashville Predators welcome the Edmonton Oilers to Tennessee in a crucial Western Conference match-up.
The Oilers have been this season’s surprise package. Dave Tippett’s team have only made the playoffs once since they lost in the Stanley Cup Finals in 2006 and not many expected them to buck that trend this season. However, the emergence of Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid as two of the league’s brightest young stars has seen the Oilers’ odds of lifting Stanley Cup slashed to +2200 with CanPlay.
Draisaitl became the first player to reach the 100 points mark this season in their win over the Winnipeg Jets. That win leaves them in 2nd place in the Pacific Division with 76 points.
The Predators have picked up six wins in their last ten and they will have to maintain that form if they want to make a postseason appearance this year. They are favourites at home for this one, listed at -135 with CanPlay. However, we fancy McDavid and Draisaitl to do the business and pick up another road win. Back the Oilers at +115.
Boston Bruins @ Tampa Bay Lightning
3rd March 2020 @ 7:30PM
Attention of the NHL world turns to Florida on Wednesday night as the two Stanley Cup favourites face off. The leading lights in the Atlantic Division meet for the third time this season with the Lightning coming out on top on both previous occasions.
Since then, the Bruins have managed to make the top seeding in the Atlantic Division their own and a seven point lead over Tampa Bay is almost unassailable at this stage of the season.
Even with that lead, the Bruins lag some way behind Tampa Bay in the Stanley Cup betting. Nikita Kucherov, Steven Stamkos and Victor Hedman are all top players in the NHL and bettors and sportsbooks obviously have confidence that they will make it all the way to the Finals this season.
We’re backing the Lightning to show their championship credentials on Wednesday night and come away with the win. Back Tampa Bay with CanPlay.
Columbus Blue Jackets @ Calgary Flames
4th March 2020 @ 8:30PM
Every win is crucial as we enter the final 15 games of the regular season and that’s true for both of these teams on Thursday night.
The Calgary Flames are fending off stiff competition from the Vancouver Canucks and Arizona Coyotes to keep hold of 3rd place in the Pacific Division. Meanwhile, a poor run of form has seen the Columbus Blue Jackets drop down to 5th in the Metropolitan Division and they face an uphill battle to reach the playoffs.
The Blue Jackets have only won two of their last ten games including heavy defeats to the Flyers and Minnesota Wild. They were clearly aided by the return of Ryan Murray in Sunday’s come-from-behind win over the Canucks. Murray’s form will have a big say in the Blue Jackets final seeding come April 4th.
The Flames may not be contenders for the Stanley Cup this season but a strong playoff performance is well within their reach. The Flames should be too strong for the Blue Jackets. Bet on Calgary to win with CanPlay.
