After more than a few upsets during last week’s action, we’re back with some tips for this week’s play. Last year’s Stanley Cup winners, St. Louis Blues, are the form team in the league, winning seven on the trot. 2018 winners Washington Capitals also look like they will contend this year. They have won six games in a row to sit top of the Metropolitan Division.
The rest of the league looks pretty even with most if not all teams still in with playoff opportunities. The only exceptions being the five win pair of New Jersey Devils and LA Kings in the Eastern and Western Conference respectively.
Ottawa Senators @ Carolina Hurricanes
Monday 11th November 7:05PM
The Ottawa Senators have been less than impressive this year. They sit second from bottom in the Atlantic Division and they come into this one as 1.5 goal underdogs. Their opponents, Carolina Hurricanes, started the year well but have lost their last four games in a row.
Erik Haula and Dougie Hamilton have been the Hurricanes top two goalgetters this season and they are both a decently priced at +200 to score anytime on Monday night. Sebastian Aho has also been in decent form for the Hurricanes and he looks decently priced at +125.
Home advantage will hold the Hurricanes in good stead but the FT Puck Line betting that has the Ottawa Senators at +1.5 looks too good to let slip past. Back the Senators (+1.5) at -124 with CanPlay Sports.
Chicago Blackhawks @ Las Vegas Golden Knights
Wednesday 13th November 7:05PM
The Chicago Blackhawks make the long trip south to Nevada to face Western Conference rivals, Las Vegas Golden Knights.
This comes after the Blackhawks secured a 5-4 win over Toronto Maple Leafs in a thrilling game on Sunday night. Leading attacker Patrick Kane bagged a brace in an opening period which saw the Blackhawks score four. As the game progressed it was the time for Blackhawks goaltender Robin Lehner to take center stage. The Swede made 53 saves to secure the 5-4 victory.
The Vegas Golden Knights weren’t quite as impressive in their last outing. That was a disappointing 3-2 defeat to the Detroit Red Wings who have the worst record in the league. That makes it 6 defeats in the last 8 games for Gerard Gallant’s side.
The Golden Knights will be hoping to get their season back on track at the T-Mobile Arena and a win could lift them as high as 2nd in the Pacific Division. We’re backing the Golden Knights to squeak this one and improve to 10-7-3 on the season.

Colorado Avalanche @ Edmonton Oilers
Thursday 14th November 8PM
This Thursday night game sees two of the early season surprise packages face off.
The Edmonton Oilers, 1st in the Pacific Division, are still available to back at +2800 in the Stanley Cup outright betting with CanPlay. They have been much derided and very few pundits would have predicted this performance from the Oilers in the first five weeks of the season.
Their team has been built on defense with goaltenders Mikko Koskinen and Mike Smith both having outstanding seasons. On Thursday night they will face one of the best offenses in the NHL. Joe Sakic’s side have scored 20 goals in the last 4 league games.
An interesting clash of styles for sure but we’re backing the Oilers to continue their great start to the season with a win on home ice.
