The Houston Rockets were the only team to let us down in last week’s betting preview. Other than that it was a good week and we have had a good month overall.
The Toronto Raptors recorded a big win over the Orlando Magic and Fred VanVleet’s hot hand was a nice added bonus to our weekly tips. The Lakers squeezed by the Oklahoma City Thunder last Friday night to retain their spot at the top of the Western Conference. Frank Vogel’s team are in a commanding position in the West. They have won nine straight and the Denver Nuggets sit 2 games back.
There are a couple of important games on this week’s schedule as we approach the quarter mark of the season. We give you all the tips and predictions for Nets @ Celtics, Dallas Mavericks @ Los Angeles Lakers and the Utah Jazz’s visit to Toronto.
Boston Celtics @ Brooklyn Nets
Friday 29th November 12PM
These Eastern Conference rivals meet for the second time this week. The Brooklyn Nets travelled to Boston on Wednesday night where they suffered a 121-110 defeat. Kemba Walker led the way for the Celtics last night, scoring 39 points. Walker was brought to Boston in the summer to replace Kyrie Irving who has now moved on to the Nets.
Irving missed his return to Boston with a shoulder injury and he is unlikely to recover in time for Friday’s game. Spencer Dinwiddie has had to shoulder most of the load in his absence which has now stretched to seven games. He may be a good value bet in the points scoring markets.
It’s hard to see the Nets making adequate adjustments in time for Friday’s game to overturn an 11-point deficit and for that reason we’re backing the Celtics in the moneyline betting.
Dallas Mavericks @ Los Angeles Lakers
Sunday 1st December 4PM
These two teams meet for the second time in just over month. Their first meeting has probably been the best match in the NBA so far this season. ‘King James’ fired the Lakers to victory but not after being pushed to the limits by pretender to the throne Luka Doncic. The young Slovenian has been the star man through the first month and a half of the NBA season so far.
The Lakers are still only second favourites for the Larry O’Brien Trophy despite their strong start. You can back them at +350 with CanPlay while their crosstown rivals, the Clippers, are +300. The Mavericks have made a strong start to the season too. They’re 5th in the West with an 11-6 record. That’s largely down to the performances of Doncic who is now one of the favourites in the MVP betting. The former Real Madrid player has averaged 30 points, 10 rebounds and 9.5 assists through the first 17 games of the season.
The Lakers are well on their way to a first playoffs appearance since 2013 and we can see them picking up what could be their 11th straight win on Sunday afternoon. Bet on the Lake Show with CanPlay.
Utah Jazz @ Toronto Raptors
Sunday 1st December 6PM
This is the fourth stop on a five game roadtrip for the Jazz as they head up north to face the reigning NBA champions. The away games haven’t been kind to Quin Snyder’s team so far. They lost out to the Bucks on Tuesday night and the Pacers on Thursday. They’re heading to Memphis on Friday before making the trip across the border on Sunday evening. They round off the journey on Monday night in Philadelphia.
The Raps have been impressive in their title defense to date. Paskal Siakam and Fred VanVleet have made a major step-up in the absence of last year’s Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard. They’re 3rd in the East having won five in a row to bring them to a 13-4 record.
We can only see one winner in this one. Toronto have yet to lose at home this season and we can’t see that changing anytime soon. Back the Raptors with CanPlay.
