After a less than impressive performance with our three tips last week we’re back again with your CanPlay Premier League treble. Liverpool’s winning streak came to an end last week with a 1-1 draw with Manchester United while Leicester climbed to third with a dramatic win over Burnley.
Southampton and Leicester kick off the weekend on Friday night but Liverpool versus Spurs on Sunday is the highlight of the weekend on Sunday afternoon.
Burnley vs Chelsea, Saturday 26th October 12:30PM
The evening kick off on Saturday is our first port of call. Frank Lampard’s young side have kicked into gear and head to Burnley in search of their seventh consecutive win in all competitions. Burnley have been far less consistent with three wins, three draws and three defeats to their name in the league.
Chelsea struggled against Newcastle last weekend and Ajax in the Champions League midweek but eked out 1-0 wins in both. Burnley might adopt the same gameplan as Newcastle and look to frustrate their opponents. A win for Burnley could lift them as high as fifth in the league but it just feels as if Chelsea are on a roll.
Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount and Michy Batshuayi have all got their names on the scoresheet in recent weeks and Callum Hudson-Odoi seems to be approaching close to his best form. The Blues are well-priced at -130 with CanPlay.
Newcastle vs Wolves, Sunday 27th October, 10AM
Newcastle have been dealt a blow heading into this fixture with key center-back Fabian Schar set to miss out with a knee injury. Wolves will travel to St. James’ with a full deck if all goes well in their Europa League tie with Slovan Bratislava on Thursday evening.
Newcastle have based their gameplan on defensive structure and they have a decent record if you remove the anomalous 5-0 defeat to Leicester. They have conceded only nine goals in their other eight fixtures. Unfortunately for Steve Bruce and their fans they have struggled at the other end of the pitch. Summer signing Joelinton nabbed the winner against Spurs but apart from that it has been slim pickings with debutant Matty Longstaff being their most recent saviour in the 1-0 win against Man United.
Looking ahead to this one you would imagine it will be tight again with the odd goal separating the teams. Nuno Espirito Santo can call upon pacy wide players Diego Jota, Adama Traore and Matt Doherty who might hold the key to opening this Newcastle defense. Wolves to win and under 2.5 goals at +345 looks like a decent bet with CanPlay.
Liverpool vs Spurs, Sunday 27th October, 12:30PM
A replay of last season’s Champions League Final takes place at Anfield on Sunday afternoon. That night in Madrid saw Liverpool emerge as 2-0 winners, lifting their sixth European Cup. The two clubs fortunes have contrasted wildly since the 1st June.
Liverpool lead the league with eight victories and one draw while Spurs sit in 7th with an almost identical record to the aforementioned Burnley. Their last two domestic fixtures resulted in a 3-0 loss to Brighton and a 1-1 draw with basement dwellers Watford. However, they did pick up a big win in the Champions League on Tuesday, beating Crvena Zvezda 5-0. That will gives Mauricio Pochettino’s men some semblance of confidence heading into this one.
This is a critical match for both teams even at the quarter stage of the season. A win for Spurs could reignite their season while a defeat for Liverpool could see Manchester City reduce their deficit to three points.
Our money is on Liverpool though to continue their hot streak. Jurgen Klopp’s men were irrepressible on Wednesday night and Spurs will have difficulty keeping Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino at bay. Liverpool to win at -185 is a good bet while Liverpool to win and both teams to score is an enticing +165 for your Premier League treble.
