We’re hoping for a slightly more entertaining weekend of Premier League fixtures this weekend after last weekend delivered three forgettable games and postponed match in rainy Manchester.
League leaders Liverpool are back in action this weekend and they can stretch their lead to 25 points at the top of the table. The race for the European places is heating up too – Wolves face Leicester and Manchester United play Chelsea in two of the standout fixtures this weekend.
Wolves vs Leicester
14th February 2020 @ 3PM
Two of this year’s most exciting teams go head-to-head on Friday night at the Molineux. Leicester’s title challenge is all but over but they are still in good position to qualify for the Champions League.
Wolves current 9th position belies their stunning form this season. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side coped brilliantly with Europa League football playing great attacking football. Winger Adama Traoré has been one of the revelations of the season, scoring four and assisting seven in 24 league appearances.
Wolves sit at the bottom of a clump of teams in the hunt for that final Champions League place. There is plenty of sorting out to be done before the end of the season and we could well see Wolves playing Champions League football next season.
It’s probably too close to call between these teams in the betting stakes. However, one thing we can predict is that there will be goals. The last two occasions these teams met at Molineux in the Premier League resulted in 4-3 wins for Wolves. Add to that two of the best strikers in the league in the form of Jamie Vardy and Raul Jimenez and we could be treated to a goalfest.
We’re betting on over 3.5 goals at +270 with CanPlay.
Norwich vs Liverpool
15th February 2020 @ 12:30PM
A repeat of the opening fixture of the 2019/2020 Premier League season. It’s clear now that Jurgen Klopp’s started as they mean to go on. They won 4-1 at Anfield despite a strong showing from Norwich on their first game back in the top-flight.
Daniel Farke’s side play a similar style to Liverpool which has maybe been the reason for their poor league position. It may be great to watch but Farke doesn’t have the same calibre of player to use as Klopp. No team has lost more points from a winning position than Norwich this season. They simply don’t not have the skill or the conditioning to maintain their performance for 90 minutes.
In contrast, Liverpool are crushing teams like a machine. They are relentless in each and every game. When it comes to the betting, Liverpool are virtually unbackable at -360. The value lies in the over/under markets and the goalscorer betting.
Over 3.5 goals looks attractive at +125 with CanPlay. Add Liverpool to win and you can have that at +150. Roberto Firmino is the best priced of Liverpool’s front trio to bag a goal at +150. Teemu Pukki has scored 11 goals this season and he can be backed at +185 to score anytime with CanPlay.
Manchester United vs Chelsea
17th February 2020 @ 3PM
This fixture has lost some of its luster over the last few seasons but it’s still vitally important for both clubs. In the times of Ferguson vs Mourinho, these games went a long way to deciding the title. This season, in the Solskjaer and Lampard era, it will most likely help to decide who finishes in the Champions League places.
Chelsea currently occupy that fourth place position although they have been on a poor run of form of late, winning only one of their last five games. Their previous meeting this season ended in a 4-0 win for United – that’s unlikely to be repeated here.
Marcus Rashford bagged a brace that day and it’s fair to say Manchester United have struggled since he was felled by injury. They have scored in only one league game of their last five – a 4-0 win against Norwich.
What’s our predictions for this one? Two out of form teams lacking a real goalscoring threat – we’re betting on under 2.5 goals at -105 with CanPlay.
